Black Consciousness Day or Black Awareness Day (Portuguese: Dia da Consciência Negra) is marked annually in Brazil on 20 November.  Also called Zumbi Day, date marks the anniversary of the death Zumbi dos Palmares in 1695. It is an official state holiday in a number of regions including Rio de Janeiro.
